Fed: Ruddock warning on republic
CANBERRA, Feb 3 AAP -Reconciliation Minister Philip Ruddock has followed up his call for
an acknowledgement of indigenous Australians at the republic referendum by warning there will
be no change unless there's a convergence of views among republicans.
Mr Ruddock, although non-committal on whether there should be an Australian head-of-state,
wants the referendum to ask whether the constitution in its preamble should acknowledge the
dispossession and disadvantage of Aborigines under white settlement.
