Government help can't save fabric maker.(Business)

GLENS FALLS - Native Textiles Inc. took advantage of many of the programs intended to keep an upstate manufacturer competitive. But in the end, they weren't enough.

The producer of fabrics used in intimate apparel and outdoor activewear will close its fabric-dyeing operation on Warren Street in Glens Falls next month, putting 85 people out of work, according to officials and a notice filed with the state Department of Labor.

A lace manufacturing operation in nearby Queensbury will continue to operate; it employs 100, said the real estate agent handling the Warren Street sale.
